LeBron James’ Agent Rich Paul Reveals Two 76ers Players Who Will Benefit Most From Playing With Him

LeBron James’ arrival in Philadelphia sparked both excitement and concern about roster fit. Even without him, the Sixers already had a star‑studded lineup, and some fans worried that younger talents might be overshadowed.

Rich Paul, James’ agent, explained on the latest episode of Game Over podcast why those concerns are unfounded. According to him, Tyrese Maxey and rookie V.J. Edgecombe are the two players who stand to benefit the most from James joining the team.

"I think Tyrese is probably going to benefit the most in all ways," Paul said. "He's not the youngest, but he's a perennial all‑star now, and it's his team."

"The second-most benefactor is V.J. Edgecombe," he added.

According to him, if Edgecombe can tune out all the noise about his production potentially dipping and focus on being a solid contributor and improving, his value will be clear to the people who matter.

Later, Paul added that Edgecombe will become more efficient simply by suiting up alongside James.

James is renowned for raising the level of those around him. His court vision and pace control allow him to position teammates for easy scoring opportunities. Over his 23 seasons, he has averaged 7.4 assists per game, peaking at 10.2 in 2019‑20.

With Maxey’s scoring ability and Edgecombe’s versatility, all they need to do is get to the right spots, James will find them.

Tyrese Maxey and V.J. Edgecombe Elevated the Sixers Last Season

Last season, Joel Embiid suited up in only 38 games. Paul George played just one less.

Typically, if a team's two veteran stars are limited to less than half the season, they're easily written off. Somehow, they finished with a positive record, winning 45 out of a possible 82 regular-season games.

They finished 7th in the Eastern Conference. Then, they pulled off an upset in the first round of the postseason by coming back from a 3-1 deficit to send the second-seed Boston Celtics home.

Much of the credit for what they accomplished goes to the play of Tyrese Maxey. The sixth-year guard averaged 28.3 points, 6.6 assists, and 1.9 steals, all of which are career highs.

He earned his first All-NBA third team selection with that stellar play, earning the first major award of his career.

Alongside him, Edgecombe impressed as a rookie, averaging 16.0 points, 5.6 rebounds, 4.2 assists, and 1.4 steals. He finished third in Rookie of the Year voting and established himself as a rising star.

He also established himself as someone to keep an eye on, as he is likely to keep improving his game, which means those tremendous numbers are set to increase as he matures.

With James now in the mix, Paul believes both Maxey and Edgecombe are positioned to take their games to another level.
