LeBron James says he doesn’t watch anything from Adidas. Anthony Edwards doesn’t believe him.

Edwards’ camp fired back at James on Sunday in a new video for his AE 3 sneaker, with comedian Hasan Minhaj speaking on his behalf as Edwards’ official “insider.”

“A certain someone in Philadelphia says he doesn’t watch the Three Stripes,” Minhaj said. “Let me say this: your current company’s stock price says otherwise. I know you’re watching.”

It’s the latest round in a back-and-forth that goes back almost a year and a half. After Minnesota knocked James and the Lakers out of the 2025 playoffs in five games, Adidas posted a graphic of Edwards doing his Spider-Man pose with the words “The King Slayer.” Edwards, however, had high praise for the four-time NBA champion.

“We beat the best player in the world, the best player ever,” he said.

The current exchange between the two started in September. That is when Adidas launched the AE 3 with a fictional late-night show called "Minnatlantasota." He went after several players, including LeBron James.

“You see where big dog ended up?” Edwards said. “He was going to join me in Minnesota, but I guess his knees couldn’t handle the cold weather.” He also joked about James’ hairline and about Jaylen Brown, James’ new teammate in Philadelphia.

Brown fired back on a Twitch stream, joking that Adidas should give Edwards “some condoms.”

James responded on an episode of his “Mind the Game” podcast when co-host Steve Nash asked him about Edwards’ ad.

“First of all, I did not watch the spot, because I don’t watch anything from the stripes,” James said. “Love Ant to death, but I don’t watch s--t from the stripes.”

Now, the Minhaj video is Edwards' reply, and it also takes aim at Nike. James has been with Nike his entire career and signed a lifetime deal reported at roughly $32 million a year. Nike’s stock has fallen sharply recently, which is what is being pointed out.

Minhaj will stay on as Edwards’ insider for the rest of the season, covering his games, sneaker drops and NBA drama. The latest video promotes the AE 3 “Solar Red,” following the “Cold Blooded” colorway that launched in September.

Edwards is the face of the campaign, but this time Adidas is the one delivering the reply.

The strategy is deliberate. Commentary on the AE 3 campaign says Edwards' habit of calling out peers like James and Jaylen Brown creates moments that feel authentic to internet culture.

The question now is whether James responds again. He already called the first ad bad and said he does not watch anything from the Stripes, so a second reply would mean admitting he saw the Minhaj spot, which is Adidas' point.

For Edwards, the campaign keeps adding to the "Believe That" image, and for Adidas, every response is free advertising.
