Stephen Curry Makes His Warriors Future Clear as He Updates on Contract Extension

All eyes are on Stephen Curry at the moment due to his contract situation with the Golden State Warriors. Curry is entering the 2026-27 season on an expiring contract and has yet to sign an extension with the team. Given the circumstances, many Warriors fans are concerned that Steph could leave the Bay Area next summer.

During an interview with Warriors beat reporter Luca Evans, Curry revealed that he's still having conversations with the front office regarding his future in Golden State. However, he also reassured fans that he doesn't intend to go anywhere else despite playing on an expiring contract.

"Everything that is pretty obvious about what the decision is — is still relevant. I’m still having those conversations," Curry told Evans.

Evans then shared a quote on X that Steph told other reporters in attendance:

"I'm not going anywhere," Curry said later on.

This wouldn't be the first time Curry has expressed his desire to stay in the Bay Area. Earlier this September, Steph made it clear in an interview with CNBC Television that he wants to retire as a Warrior.

"I've always stated that I wanna be a lifer with Golden State," Curry said. "What we've built there, the fact that I get to run it back this year with Draymond and Coach Kerr. All the contract stuff is this NBA thing from year to year; it's so crazy things change really fast. But I do know my interest and mission to stay in Golden State and be competitive is there, and the contract stuff will take care of itself."

For now, all we can do is wait for Curry's decision regarding his contract. There have been reports that Steph hasn't signed an extension yet because he's locked in for the upcoming 2026-27 season.

However, that remains to be seen. We can never know what his real intentions are until he makes a move.

NBA Insider Reveals Warriors are Waiting on Stephen Curry's Decision

While Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors have yet to agree on his contract extension, it appears that it's the star guard who has yet to make a decision.

NBA insider Shams Charania revealed that the Warriors have given Steph all the offers possible and are simply waiting on his next move.

"The ball is totally in Stephen Curry's court," Charania reported on NBA Today. "They've given him options to take. He's got one-year deals, two-year deals, max deals. He's got slightly under the max, where he would be giving the team a discount and some more flexibility. He's got player option deals as well."

Charania also mentioned that Curry's delayed decision stems from his trying to see which deal would best benefit the Warriors. With that in mind, Steph does intend to finish his career in Golden State. It's simply a matter of when he'll sign a new contract.
