While the NBA hardwood has yet to catch the heat with the season just beginning, the Jaylen Brown-Jayson Tatum drama is what's keeping things sizzling. And if you wanted to catch a break after the Boston Celtics commentators called JB out, welcome back to the next episode, where NBA star Eddie A. Johnson comes with his latest jab at JT.

“Amazing how fickle some people can be! Jaylen Brown delivered a championship, was their best player in both the Conference Finals and NBA Finals, and had everyone partying like it was 1999!” Johnson's recent clapback post on X read. “Then, when they thought last season was lost, that SAME guy came out of nowhere, led the team to 56 wins, and made their jobs fun again. Funny how quickly people forget!”

For those who skipped a chapter or two, the feud that allegedly sparked between Brown and Tatum during their time at Boston together resurfaced when the latter stated that Brown’s move to Philly caught him off guard in the latest episode of his documentary series, "Summer of Jayson."

But once Bleacher Report took the clip to Instagram, Brown’s response was a blue baseball cap emoji, implying that Tatum was lying. Though Tatum clarified there was no beef, Brown stirred the pot by stating that there is “no beef,” but some “lamb chops and gravy,” and that Tatum has a great PR team.

It probably meant that Tatum has better media coverage and following to sweep his untruthful remarks. This PR statement must’ve felt pretty personal to the Celtics’ commentators in Boston’s latest game against the Brooklyn Nets, in which Tatum scored 40 points, 5 rebounds, and 8 assists with 0 turnovers.

“Tatum has ZERO turnovers tonight,” they stated during the game. "If I were to do PR work for Jayson Tatum, I'd just remind everyone who led the league in turnovers last year."

Basically, hinting that if Tatum truly had a better PR team, people would’ve discussed more about the 2024 Finals MVP going to Brown (20.8 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 5.0 assists) instead of Tatum (22.2 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 7.2 assists). Or, Brown’s higher TO (3.6) than Tatum’s (2.4) last season. Or that Brown’s averaging 20.8 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 4.8 assists in Philly, whereas Tatum’s off to score 24.0 PPG, 6.7 REB, and 8.0 AST in Boston.

But clearly, Johnson doesn’t agree.

Per him, Brown hasn’t just been the 2024 MVP. He also ensured Boston’s 56 wins with Tatum sidelined with a torn Achilles, averaging a career-high 28.7 points, 6.9 rebounds, and 5.1 assists. In fact, he also shared his MVP honor with his “partner in crime”, Tatum, in the 2024 NBA Finals.

Hence, the announcers throwing daggers at him the moment he’s out of the locker room is what Johnson would call a “fickle” mentality.

Now, delivering a championship wasn’t entirely on Brown alone in a team sport. But Johnson’s comments surely make it exciting to wait and see in what direction the dice will roll next.
