LeBron James' Agent Breaks Silence on Lakers Star's Future Amid Swirling Warriors Rumors

With the 2026 NBA Finals nearing its conclusion, part of the NBA world's attention has already shifted to the offseason and the blockbuster moves that could unfold this summer. One of the biggest names under the microscope is LeBron James, with the 41-year-old's future in the league becoming a major topic of discussion.
After spending eight seasons with the Lakers, James chose not to extend his contract. Because of his age, there are some rumors pointing towards a possible retirement, although nothing has been made official yet. And because of that, there are reports that he could join another team — Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors. Rich Paul broke his silence regarding the situation to give clarity on his client's potential decision.
"Believe nothing that's out there because I haven't had one conversation with him," Paul said on The Pat McAfee Show regarding the LeBron rumors.
"At the end of the season, I made it clear that I would respect him and the family because this is going to be a family decision for him. ... Whatever decision he decides to make, that is his decision. He doesn't need to make a decision for anybody but himself. .. There's been no conversation. I have not had one conversation with him."
The Warriors were believed to be actively pursuing James, with Curry reportedly getting involved in an effort to convince the four-time champion to spend a year in the Bay Area. However, Paul has not confirmed those reports.
For now, the clearest indication we have regarding James' future comes from comments he made on his Mind the Game podcast earlier this year. LeBron said he plans to address the next chapter of his career in late June or early July. Until then, he intends to spend time with his family and enjoy some well-earned vacation time.
"Obviously, I understand that I'm a free agent and I can control my own destiny, being here with this (Lakers) franchise for the foreseeable future, or if it's going somewhere else. … I think at some point you know, up until late June, as July rolls around, free agency starts to get going and July's rolling and maybe into August we start to kind of like, get a feel of what my future may look like," the King said on Mind the Game.
Rich Paul Reveals Teams Have Called LeBron James
Despite the uncertainty surrounding LeBron James' future, one thing is clear: plenty of teams around the league would still love to have him on their roster. This could very well be their final opportunity to land one of the greatest players in NBA history, even if only for a short period.
James' agent, Rich Paul, recently revealed that several teams have reached out this summer to gauge whether LeBron would be interested in joining them.
"I can tell you this, there are incoming calls from every team with the excitement of possibly (LeBron James) playing for them," Paul revealed on The Pat McAfee Show.
"So at 41 years of age, I think that's something to be extremely proud about. ... I would say without naming names, I would say about 10 to 12 teams."
While this doesn't confirm that James won't consider retirement this summer, all signs are definitely pointing towards him gearing up for year 24.
As of this writing, the three big teams that could sign LeBron are the Los Angeles Lakers, Cleveland Cavaliers, and Golden State Warriors.
Despite his rocky relationship with the front office, the Lakers are still interested in acquiring the King. Meanwhile, Cleveland has also left its doors open for a potential homecoming. As for the Warriors, rumors suggest that Stephen Curry will meet up with James later this summer to discuss potential recruitment plans.
