Jaylen Brown, after spending a decade with the Boston Celtics, might be on his way out of TD Garden. The former No. 3 pick was reportedly part of a trade package for Giannis Antetokounmpo earlier this summer, but the Greek Freak ultimately chose the Miami Heat instead. If Celtics fans thought that marked the end of Brown's trade saga, however, they may have been mistaken.
After attempting to move Brown, NBA insider Brian Windhorst suggests the five-time All-Star could remain on the trade block for Boston.
"I guess it's not impossible that Jaylen Brown and the Celtics could get back together," Windhorst said on The Rich Eisen Show. "But I think that's highly unlikely. They're offering him everywhere. I'm not in the Celtics offices, so I can't say for sure."
Several other sources have also suggested that the Celtics are currently testing Brown's trade market value this summer. The Denver Nuggets have recently been linked to the 2024 NBA Finals MVP, with reports suggesting they've made an inquiry.
Windhorst also mentioned on The Rich Eisen Show that many teams, aside from the Nuggets, have gotten in touch with the Celtics after learning about Brown's availability on the trade market.
Given that Brown still has $182 million remaining on his contract over the next three years, Boston can definitely secure a plethora of valuable pieces. However, if the Celtics fail to trade him, it could end up becoming an issue in the locker room. Some reports suggest there's already some tension between Brown and the Celtics' front office. It could lead to a disastrous start to Boston's season in October.
Jaylen Brown Hints at Wanting Out of Boston
Despite being offered to the Milwaukee Bucks for Giannis Antetokounmpo earlier this June, it appears that Jaylen Brown has yet to address his current trade rumors formally. However, it seems that Brown's frustrations with the Boston Celtics is slowly growing each day.
A Celtics fan on social media posted a screen-recorded video of Brown liking an Instagram comment regarding a fan wanting the Celtics to trade him.
The comment reads: "Man, as a person who can't stand the Celtics, I hope they do right by him by trading him to a city that respects him."
While this doesn't necessarily confirm anything, it's quite intriguing to see Brown react to such a comment. Several sources reported that JB has yet to make a trade request despite his growing frustrations with the Celtics.
As of his latest Twitch stream, Brown addressed the critics, stating that he plans on proving all his doubters wrong.
"These people think they've seen the best version of me," Brown said while working out on stream. "And they want to see me fail and move the bar. And chat, I'll tell you right now, no matter what happens, I'm coming. … All of my critics and doubters are turning me into a monster."
At this point, we wouldn't be surprised if we see Brown ending up on another team this summer. Aside from Antetokounmpo, we've seen other big stars get traded this June. LaMelo Ball is now with the Minnesota Timberwolves, while Ja Morant was traded to the Portland Trail Blazers. It appears that star players aren't as untouchable as they used to be.
