Domantas Sabonis agrees to four-year extension with Kings

Domantas Sabonis won't be leaving the Sacramento Kings anytime soon.

The All-NBA center has agreed to a four-year contract extension that will keep him in Sacramento through the 2027-28 campaign, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

Sabonis and the Kings "agreed to a massive contract renegotiation and extension for a total of $217 million over five seasons -- including $195 million in new money," Woj writes

Wojnarowski notes that Sabonis could have asked for more money, but he wanted to ensure that the Kings have some flexibility for additional roster moves as the team looks to assemble a contender.

The Kings wanted to lock up Sabonis, who just helped them end their NBA-record playoff drought, leading Sacramento to the postseason for the first time since 2006.

As a result of the renegotiation, Sabonis will earn an extra $8.6 million in the upcoming season.

Sabonis becomes the second NBA player in the last six months whose deal was renegotiated with cap space and extended, joining Indiana Pacers big man Myles Turner (who signed a two-year, $60 million extension).

The three-time All-Star averaged 19.1 points and 12.3 rebounds last season, which led to his first All-NBA selection.
