The Phoenix Suns have officially parted ways with head coach Mike Budenholzer following a disappointing 36–46 season, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania.

This move comes after the Suns severely underperformed this season, causing them to miss the playoffs entirely. This marks the third consecutive year the franchise has dismissed its head coach, following the departures of Monty Williams in 2023 and Frank Vogel in 2024. 

Budenholzer, an Arizona native and former NBA Coach of the Year, was hired in May 2024 on a five-year, $50 million contract with high expectations. Despite a roster featuring stars Kevin Durant, Devin Booker, and Bradley Beal, the Suns failed to find cohesion, with the trio playing only 37 games together due to injuries and other issues.

The team's underperformance has led to speculation about potential roster changes, including trade discussions involving Durant. According to reports, the Suns are expected to work with Durant and his representatives to explore possible trade destinations.

As the Suns search for their fourth head coach in as many seasons, the organization faces critical decisions to reshape its future and return to playoff contention.​
