Another team just played spoiler to a player’s season-best scoring output.
Just a week after the Charlotte Hornets crashed the Minnesota Timberwolves' party and ruined Karl-Anthony Towns' career-best 62-point outing, the Indiana Pacers spoiled Devin Booker’s season-high 62 points, escaping with a 129-127 win over the Phoenix Suns at Gainbridge Fieldhouse on Friday night.
Booker, who had 29 points in the first quarter, was brilliant all night long — shooting 22-of-37 from the field, 6-of-12 from three and 12-of-13 from the free-throw line to finish with 62 on the night.
The 6-foot-6 guard has been tearing it up over his last five games, including 52 points against the New Orleans Pelicans and 46 against the Dallas Mavericks. However, he missed a three-point attempt at the buzzer that could have won the game after stumbling on the court on the inbounds pass.
Indiana was led by Pascal Siakam's 31 points, and Obi Toppin's 23. Toppin was the hero in the dying seconds of the game, grabbing an offensive rebound and putback basket to put the Pacers up for good.
This was Siakam’s second win with the Pacers despite playing without All-Star starter Tyrese Haliburton, who missed his second consecutive game due to a hamstring injury.
