In an interview with CNBC, Houston Rockets chairman Tilman Fertitta said that general manager Daryl Morey's job is safe. The organization is focused on finding its next head coach, which Fertitta indicated will be handled by Morey and the front office more than himself.

"It begins and end with the general manager," Fertitta said. "That's why you have a basketball operations team. They'll make a recommendation to me. I'm the sign off guys. I wouldn't know how to interview a basketball coach."
