The Charlotte Hornets announced that forward Gordon Hayward will miss today's game vs. the San Antonio Spurs because of lower back discomfort. Hayward was initially listed as probable for today's game, but the Hornets will choose to err on the side of caution with their big free-agent signing. The 30-year-old will get a couple days to rest before the team's next game which comes Wednesday against the Bulls.

Hayward is averaging a career-best 22.3 points per game in his first season with Charlotte. Expect Miles Bridges and Malik Monk to see extended run with Hayward sidelined today.
