ANALYSIS: Chicago is looking to finally make it back to the playoffs for the first time since 2017. If they are able to pull off acquiring both DeRozan and Ball, they instantly vault into discussions as a legitimate threat in the Eastern Conference. Both players are great complimentary pieces alongside Zach LaVine and Nikola Vucevic.
For the double sign-and-trade to work, Chicago would send Tomas Satoransky's $10 million expiring contract to New Orleans while Lauri Markannen signs a new deal and heads to San Antonio.
Here's what the Bulls' 2021-2022 starting lineup looks like in this scenario: Ball, LaVine, DeRozan, Patrick Williams and Vucevic. That's a team that could make some serious noise for years to come, if this comes to fruition.
