ANALYSIS: Stein also reports that Miami Heat head coach Erik Spoelstra could be a candidate for the position as well. Kerr served as an assistant coach for this summer's Tokyo Olympics, where Team USA took home a gold medal. Popovich took over for Mike Krzyzewski as head coach of Team USA after the 2016 Rio Olympics.
