Stan Van Gundy: 'If people have complaints, have complaints with me'

New Orleans Pelicans head coach Stan Van Gundy took accountability for his team's elimination from postseason contention on Wednesday night.

"If people have complaints, have complaints with me," Van Gundy said postgame. "The way this group has fought and the way they’ve grown individually throughout this year -- if you're a fan of the Pelicans, you should be pretty excited about the future, I think."

The Pelicans lost to the Mavericks, 125-107, on Wednesday. Despite fielding a young roster, New Orleans had playoff expectations, and fell short this season in Van Gundy's first year at the helm. Zion Williamson, Brandon Ingram and Lonzo Ball all made marked improvements as young talents. But the Pelicans are currently giving up 114.8 points per game to opponents, good for 24th in the league.

At 31-39, they won't have a chance to compete in the play-in tournament with just two games left on the schedule.
