Spencer Dinwiddie to decline player option, become unrestricted free agent

As expected, Brooklyn Nets guard Spencer Dinwiddie plans to decline the $12.3M player option on his 2021-2022 contract and become an unrestricted free agent, sources tell ESPN. He has a Monday deadline.

ANALYSIS: Dinwiddie injured his ACL just three games into th 2020-21 season. Though it was rumored he would try to return during the NBA Playoffs, Dinwiddie never made it back as Brooklyn lost to Milwaukee in the conference semifinals. The 28-year-old averaged 20.6 points and 6.8 assists per game last season.
