WNBA Free Agency: Las Vegas Aces to sign forward Alysha Clark

The rich get richer.

A day after landing superstar and future Hall-of-Famer Candace Parker, the Las Vegas Aces are reportedly adding more reinforcements in the frontcourt.

As first reported by Howard Megdal of The Next, the Aces have reached an agreement with two-time WNBA champion Alysha Clark.

After missing the 2021 season while recovering from a Lisfranc injury, the 10-year veteran made her return in 2022 for the Washington Mystics, averaging 8.0 points, 4.5 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 0.9 steals.

She suffered the second worst three-point shooting season of her career (30.3% on 3.4 attempts), but there's reason to believe that she will bounce back in Vegas. Not only is she a career 38.4% shooter from deep, it's easy to envision her feasting on open looks due to the talent surrounding her.

Clark remains a strong perimeter defender who's able to credibly defend multiple positions. She's made two All-Defensive teams in her career (2019, 2020), though she's understandably slipped from that level post-injury. 

This is a valuable add for the Aces, who didn't have much depth behind All-Star wing Jackie Young last season. Riquna Williams is more of a 2/3 hybrid than a 3/4 hybrid like Clark (or Young); the Aces even experimented with three-big lineups as a counter to their depth issue last year. Provided Clark stays healthy, that issue should no longer exist.
