Rajon Rondo dealt from Atlanta to the Clippers

The Atlanta Hawks have traded away Rajon Rondo to the LA Clippers, according to ESPN. Lou Williams is headed back to Atlanta to complete the deal.

It's worth noting that Clippers head coach Tyronn Lue was part of the coaching staff of the Boston Celtics during Rondo's best days in the league alongside Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce, and Ray Allen.

This season in Atlanta, Rondo has averaged just 3.9 points per game, but could make for an intriguing addition for the Clippers come playoff time. Last year in the playoffs with the Los Angeles Lakers, Rondo averaged 8.9 points and 6.6 assists per game in 24.7 minutes on his way to winning his second career NBA championship.

Williams has spent the last four seasons in LA, averaging 19.1 points per game. Two second-round draft picks and cash will also be headed back to Atlanta as part of the deal, according to The Athletic
