NBA unveils new trophies, adding conference MVP awards

With the NBA celebrating its 75th anniversary, the league unveiled a lineup of reimagined trophies for the NBA postseason, including an evolution of the Larry O’Brien Trophy, awarded annually to the NBA champions.

The league is also introducing MVP awards for the conference finals including the first Larry Bird Eastern Conference Finals MVP award and the first Earvin "Magic" Johnson Western Conference Finals MVP award.

The newly designed Eastern Conference Championship will now be named the Bob Cousy Trophy, honoring the Boston Celtics great who won six NBA championships with the franchise. The updated Western Conference Championship trophy will be named the Oscar Robertson Trophy in tribute of the "Big O" who was an 11-time All-NBA Team selection and won the 1971 NBA championship with the Milwaukee Bucks.

Both the Larry O'Brien Trophy, handed out to the league champions, and the Bill Russell Trophy, given to the NBA Finals MVP, have been redesigned. The updated version of the Larry O'Brien Trophy includes a golden basketball hoop and a circular base that will include etched names of all previous NBA champions.
