Giannis repeats, wins 2019-20 NBA MVP

Milwaukee Bucks forward Giannis Antetokounmpo has won his second consecutive Most Valuable Player award, the NBA announced.

Los Angeles Lakers forward LeBron James placed second, while James Harden of the Houston Rockets slotted third. Below are the voting results:

ANALYSIS: While most will focus on the Bucks' second round exit and the MVP's struggle against the Miami Heat, we have to remember that MVP is a regular-season award. The fact of the matter is that Milwaukee had the best record in the NBA at 56-17 and were rolling before the stoppage in March.

Much of that had to do with the domination of Giannis as an all-around threat. He's the Defensive Player of the Year, one that is an All-Star and put up ridiculous numbers across the board -- 29.5 points, 13.6 rebounds, 5.6 assists and one block and a steal per game.

Giannis joins Michael Jordan and Hakeem Olajuwon as the only other player in league history to win both DPOY and MVP in the same season. Furthermore, Giannis is the 13th player in league history to repeat as MVP.
