NBA fines Dillon Brooks $25,000 for skipping media availability

Memphis Grizzlies forward/guard Dillon Brooks has been fined $25,000 for "violating league rules governing media interview access," it was announced today by NBA executive vice president and head of basketball operations Joe Dumars.

The fine results from Brooks’ failure to participate in team postgame media availability during the first round of the 2023 NBA Playoffs. Brooks refused to speak to the media after multiple first-round games against the Los Angeles Lakers.

The Lakers eliminated the Grizzlies in six games in the first round, and Brooks struggled during the series after calling out LeBron James.

During the first-round series, Brooks averaged 10.5 points, 3.0 rebounds and 1.8 assists, while shooting a dreadful 31.2% from the field and 23.8% from three-point range – both of which were his career-lows in the postseason.

Brooks is an unrestricted free agent this offseason, and there has been some discussion about whether the Grizzlies will try to retain him given his on-court struggles and antics.
