NBA, NBPA announce free agency period will start Aug. 2

The NBA and NBPA officially announced on Monday afternoon that the league's free agency period will begin on Aug. 2 this summer. The joint statement confirms that contract negotiations can begin at 6 p.m. ET on that date.

Following the moratorium period, teams will be allowed to officially sign free agents on Aug. 6 at 12:01 p.m. ET.
