Kyle Lowry will sign with Philadelphia 76ers after buyout

After getting bought out by the Charlotte Hornets, Kyle Lowry will sign with the Philadelphia 76ers, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

This was the most likely scenario for the Philadelphia native, as our Hunter Simpson noted right after the NBA trade deadline passed on Thursday:

"Lowry is a Philly native and the most likely option if he were to be bought out. He would be a slight upgrade over Patrick Beverley, who was dealt to the Milwaukee Bucks (although he wouldn't match Beverley's energy).

"While he hasn’t officially been bought out by the Charlotte Hornets yet, he is expected to be. Averaging just over 8 points per game, Lowry would be used as the team's primary backup point guard."

Lowry, 37, is a six-time NBA All-Star who won a championship with the Toronto Raptors in 2019.
