Ja Morant wins NBA's Most Improved Player award

Memphis guard Ja Morant was voted the NBA's Most Improved Player, beating out San Antonio's Dejounte Murray.

Morant got 38 first-place votes and 221 points from a panel of 100 sports writers and broadcasters while Murray received 20 first-place votes and finished with 183 points.

Morant averaged 27.4 points 5.7 rebounds and 6.7 assists this past season while helping lead the Grizzlies to a 56-26 record and the No. 2 seed in the Western Conference. The third-year player boosted his scoring and rebounding from the previous season where he averaged 19.1 points, 4.0 rebounds and 7.4 assists.

Cleveland's Darius Garland finished third with 178 points followed by Golden State's Jordan Poole and Memphis' Desmond Bane.
