Bulls eyeing Rudy Gobert trade, won't include Patrick Williams

Jake Fischer of Bleacher Report reports that Chicago Bulls have expressed interest in Rudy Gobert in the hopes of optimizing the LaVine/DeRozan era.

"The Bulls remain invested in finding the optimal frontcourt lynchpin to pair with LaVine and DeRozan. Chicago continues to explore the trade market for two-time All-Star center Nikola Vucevic, sources said. It has registered interest in Rudy Gobert, but the Bulls do not appear willing to include Patrick Williams alongside Vucevic in a trade package for Gobert."

ANALYSIS: Going from Vucevic from Gobert indicates that Chicago believes they have enough offensive firepower with LaVine and DeRozan alone. If they get Gobert to go alongside Lonzo Ball and Alex Caruso, that should make their defense a bit more formidable as a team. What the Bulls have to ask themselves is, would Rudy Gobert be their last piece on a contender with the team they have? If they believe the answer is yes, then trading Patrick Williams is worth it in this supposed trade scenario. If they don't, then they shouldn't bother entertaining the idea.
