Stephen Curry is one of the oldest active players in the NBA today. After 17 seasons, he's set to enter his 18th season as a 38-year-old. This means Steph is now in the twilight years of his career. While he may still be performing at an elite level, it's safe to argue that Curry is no longer in his prime and is showing signs of slowing down.

Having said that, the clock is ticking for the Golden State Warriors to help Curry notch another title in his decorated collection of accolades. However, based on how the Warriors have treated this offseason, it doesn't seem like the team will be contending for the championship this coming season. With that in mind, former NBA star Jeff Teague recently urged Steph to ask Golden State to help him chase another ring before it's too late.

"At 38 (years old), (Steph) done won 4 championships; (Steph) got like three or four years left. (Steph) done enough, bro. Maybe if he wants to win 5 to be up there with Kobe and Magic, compete with Magic with the 5 if that’s what he’s on, he needs to say that," Teague said on the Club 520 Podcast.

If Curry manages to win a fifth championship before he hangs up his jersey, he'll be joining some pretty exclusive company - just 11 players in NBA history have done it. That list includes names like Kobe Bryant, Magic Johnson, Tim Duncan, and Dennis Rodman, among others.

But here's the thing, Steph has made it clear he wants to finish his career in Golden State, and that loyalty might come at a cost. The odds of him adding another ring aren't looking great right now. Just look at this past offseason. The Warriors had a real shot at landing LeBron James in free agency or pulling off a trade for Jaylen Brown from Boston. Neither deal came through, and both players ended up signing with the Philadelphia 76ers instead.

For the Warriors to let huge opportunities like that slip and not make any significant offseason moves to make up for their losses is proof that Curry is less likely to win the big one again unless he decides to play for another contending team.

Despite Stephen Curry announcing that he'd rather retire with the Golden State Warriors, many are speculating that he could end up suiting up for another team before he retires in the near future.

One of the major factors behind this line of thinking is that Curry is playing on an expiring contract. Steph is about to enter his one-year deal worth $62.5 million with the Warriors. While he's already eligible for an extension, he has yet to renegotiate his contract with the team.

Many find this odd, hence the trade speculation. Apparently, NBA insider Brian Windhorst confirmed that Curry has yet to make a decision, and neither party has made a move regarding his contract.

"It’s not whether or not Steph is going to sign," Windhorst said on his podcast. "It’s what’s on the plate.... Curry makes $62 million this year, so he can add two years onto it, or he can do a one-year max, or just wait. The Warriors are putting the decision in Steph’s hands. There is no negotiation."

As of this writing, everything remains a blur regarding Curry's future with the Warriors. As it stands now, Steph seems to be fine sticking around in the Bay Area. However, given his contract situation, we wouldn't be surprised if he suddenly decided to leave.
