“I’m So Proud of Him”: Lakers Champion Reveals Son’s $7,500 Work for Clippers

Former Los Angeles Lakers star Metta World Peace, formerly known as Ron Artest, took to social media to credit the Los Angeles Clippers. Apparently, Metta's son, Jeron Artest, used to work for the Clippers, not as an employee but more as a contributor to the organization.

According to Metta, Jeron helped create one of the Clippers' original fan interactions on the jumbotron, known as the 'Water Wave'. Despite recent issues surrounding the Clippers, the former NBA star still went out of his way to thank the organization while reminiscing about his son's accomplishments.

"Fun Fact: my son Jeron Artest was the original designer of the LA Clippers' Water Wave fan engagement tech on that huge LED screen," Metta wrote on X.

"I’m so proud of him. Graduated high school early, attended UCI and USC, and is an actual pre-AI game developer," Metta continued. "Although he only got roughly $7,500 for the talented work, when you’re young, sometimes you have to pay your dues. Thanks to the Clippers for letting my son be one of the originators."

Now 26 years old, Jeron is reportedly building, investing, and consulting at the intersection of gaming, interactive entertainment, and software engineering.

The former Lakers star's son truly quit playing basketball to pursue his dream career of becoming a software engineer.

Metta World Peace Breaks Silence on LeBron James Leaving Lakers

The Los Angeles Lakers are set to have a very different season this coming October. For the first time in eight years, the Lakers will be playing without LeBron James by their side. This is due to James' decision to leave LA and join the Philadelphia 76ers instead.

Lakers legend Metta World Peace took to social media to share his thoughts on James joining the 76ers.

"So, LeBron chooses Philly. That means I need to buy real estate in Philly," Metta said in a video he uploaded on X. "That's all that means because he's about to boost the economy... Going to Philly, I think, is great. He's got a lot of real good players... Now, you add LeBron... The man can still play."

"What's interesting to me, I can't wait to see how great a role player he becomes," Metta added. "He is a hell of a second or third option right now."

True enough, everyone is highly anticipating the debut of James in Philly. This is due to the formation of a new superteam that includes him, Jaylen Brown, Joel Embiid, and Tyrese Maxey. Many are intrigued to see how far the four All-Stars can take the 76ers this coming season.

Meanwhile, the Lakers are a team to watch in the West. This is because it'll be the first time that Luka Doncic and Austin Reaves will lead LA without LeBron by their side. It'll be interesting to see if they have what it takes to take charge without the King's guidance.
