Nearly a week has passed since NBA free agency began, and LeBron James remains the biggest name on the market. Earlier this summer, James said he would make his decision in late June or early July. While he has yet to make it official, some teams have emerged as frontrunners to sign him.

James’ agent, Rich Paul, recently listed several teams his client could end up with this summer. During a recent episode of the Game Over Podcast, Paul mentioned the Golden State Warriors, Cleveland Cavaliers, Miami Heat, Philadelphia 76ers, Minnesota Timberwolves, Boston Celtics, Denver Nuggets, and New York Knicks as potential landing spots for next season. NBA insider Nick Friedell also weighed in on Paul’s list.

"Rich knew exactly what he was doing," Friedell said on First Things First. "He knew exactly what he was building into. He's always been a salesman. But he knows the game has just changed with all the eyeballs that he brought to his podcast."

While all these teams sound like an interesting destination for the King, the Timberwolves appear to be aggressively pursuing James. According to a recent report by league insider Jon Krawczynski, the Wolves have "ramped up" their efforts in trying to recruit the four-time MVP. Krawczynski also mentioned that Minnesota directly contacted LeBron's representatives for a speedier conversation.

The Timberwolves appear to be pushing all their chips to the center of the table. They already have a franchise star in Anthony Edwards and acquired LaMelo Ball from the Charlotte Hornets earlier this month, while Rudy Gobert provides veteran leadership in the frontcourt. Should Minnesota land James, it would add another championship-proven veteran and elite playmaker to the mix. The idea of LeBron orchestrating the offense alongside Edwards and Ball is enough to excite any basketball fan.

LeBron James' Future With Warriors Seems Like a Blur

Since announcing that he will no longer play for the Los Angeles Lakers, many assumed that LeBron James would take his talents to the Bay Area. The Golden State Warriors had made their intentions of recruiting James known earlier this summer. Apparently, fans were all-in with the idea and got excited to potentially see James and Stephen Curry finally team up in the NBA.

However, there was a caveat for LeBron. Reports suggested that the King wants Anthony Davis back by his side. The Warriors were reportedly aware of James' request and tried to cut a deal with the Washington Wizards. However, NBA insider Anthony Slater believes that the Wizards are unlikely to let go of AD.

"The Wizards are not signaling that 1+1 equals 2," Slater said on ESPN. "This doesn’t mean that Davis is now available (after the Deandre Ayton trade). … As far as it goes for the Warriors, this being leverage season, I don’t think this helps the Warriors leverage necessarily. The Wizards could easily still keep Davis, which could potentially box the Warriors out of the LeBron James sweepstakes."

With Davis out of the picture, it might be less enticing for LeBron to team up with Steph in Golden State. The clock is ticking for James, and Father Time is slowly getting in the way. Having that in mind, he would like to contend for another title before he decides to hang up the laces. However, to do so, he needs to sign with a team that's ready to win next season and no longer has to go through a building process.
