“Someone Check on Josh Hart”: Knicks Star Gets Mocked by Own Teammate Over Team’s Misfortune

Last season, Arsenal fell to Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League final. A Knicks guard in the middle of his own championship run couldn’t resist twisting the knife. “London is blue, never red — up the Chels,” Josh Hart said in an NBA Finals press conference, laughing as he walked away. The banter never actually stopped and on Sunday, it came back to haunt him.

Jeremy Sochan mocked his own teammate after Chelsea’s 2-1 loss to Arsenal. He sent a message that needed no further explanation for anyone who has followed Josh Hart’s soccer commentary over the past several months.

“Someone check on Josh Hart,” Sochan tweeted. “I know his blood pressure is high right now!” Hart, never one to let a jab go unanswered, responded: “Not worried.”

Hart’s Chelsea allegiance isn’t a passing interest. He has attended matches at Stamford Bridge, regularly posts about the club on social media, and has leaned into the Arsenal rivalry enough times that Sochan clearly knew exactly which nerve to press.

The Arsenal-Chelsea rivalry itself long predates either athlete. They've been 215 competitive meetings dating back to 1907, with Arsenal holding a 87-66 edge in wins overall. Though Chelsea’s two Champions League titles remain the advantage Hart has repeatedly used to bait Arsenal supporters at every opportunity.

What made Sochan’s timing sharp is the contrast with June, when Hart was the one dishing out the mockery. Back then, Arsenal had just lost their Champions League final to PSG on penalties, and Hart used his NBA Finals media availability to remind a reporter wearing a Gunners top exactly where the trophy count stood.

“Arsenal is not humble,” Hart said at the time. “Have they ever won a Champions League? How long have they been around? They never won that? Okay. London’s blue, never red.”

Two months later, Chelsea’s loss to Arsenal in a Premier League fixture gave Sochan the perfect opening to flip the script on his own locker room.

When Arsenal moved closer to a Premier League title there was a contested VAR decision involving Kai Havertz. Hart didn’t hold back his frustration either, posting: “That trash club will win the league solely because they have the refs and VAR on payroll.”

The Knicks locker room clearly has full awareness of Hart’s football obsession. Sochan’s tweet is the latest evidence that it has become a running storyline inside the team itself, not just something Hart talks about.

Whether Chelsea and Arsenal meet again before the NBA season resumes will determine whether this exchange gets a rematch. But based on the pattern established over the past several months, neither side of this rivalry, on the pitch or in the Knicks’ group chat, seems likely to let the other have the last word for long.
