“Nonsense”: Boston Celtics Champion Blasts Paul George’s Introductory Presser

A couple of months after being traded to the Boston Celtics from the Philadelphia 76ers, Paul George finally had his introductory press conference. The Celtics acquired George by shockingly trading their five-time All-Star Jaylen Brown. It was a move that nobody saw coming, and it is safe to say that the Celtics fans didn't appreciate it much.

In George's introductory press conference on Tuesday, he addressed the negative impact the trade had on Celtics fans. He then tried to win them over by promising to help Jayson Tatum and the rest of his new teammates win this coming 2026-27 season. Former Celtics champion Kendrick Perkins spoke his mind on PG's statements on Tuesday.

"I didn't see him winning the press conference," Perkins said on NBA Today. "As a guy who played with the Celtics, the Celtics fan base doesn't want to hear that type of nonsense... They want you to come in with a certain level of confidence that's saying, 'I'm about to help elevate this organization and get them back to where they need to be.'"

Perkins then turned his attention to Tatum, who he believes now has a huge chip on his shoulder after Brown's departure from Boston. While PG will technically serve as JT's tandem in the upcoming season, Tatum is still the ultimate star player for the Celtics.

"Outside of that, the elephant in the room is Jayson Tatum," Perkins added. "Jayson Tatum is on the clock. The pressure is on. He is the one who has said that he wants to win the MVP; he feels like he's the best player in the league."

For now, everything remains to be seen in Boston. But looking at how things stand at the moment, it would seem that the 76ers won the trade as Brown joins the newly formed superteam that consists of Joel Embiid, LeBron James, and Tyrese Maxey.

Paul George knows Celtics fans are still processing Jaylen Brown's exit

While the Philadelphia 76ers have already been busy with Jaylen Brown getting to work with LeBron James and Tyrese Maxey ahead of the NBA training camp, it's only now that the Boston Celtics have had the opportunity to hear from their newest acquisition, Paul George.

In George's introductory press conference on Tuesday, he addressed the elephant in the room: the Celtics fan base. He understood that fans are upset with the organization for trading Brown, especially after delivering a strong showing last season. Regardless of how the fans felt, PG assured everyone that he would do everything he could to help the team become something to look forward to this coming season.

"No personal feelings towards the initial, you know, how [the Jaylen Brown trade] was received here in Boston," George said in his introductory press conference. "To be honest, it's fair. Hopefully, with how we start this year, [the Celtics fan base] understands this is new. You know, a new team and something that they can be proud of."

Despite George's optimism, the fact that he only played 37 regular-season games last season and 41 regular-season games two years ago isn't very reassuring. At this point, the only way PG could win Celtics fans over is by playing consistently.
