Former Heat Icon Side With Bam Adebayo After Altercation With Tyler Herro
Former Miami Heat teammates Bam Adebayo and Tyler Herro got into a physical altercation, and former Heat five-time All-Star Tim Hardaway Sr. is critical of Herro's off-court antics. According to NBA insider Shams Charania, Adebayo struck Herro in the head in a practice facility in a Las Vegas hotel .
The exchange stemmed from Herro's comments, which reportedly called out Bam, questioning his stardom and his $160 million contract in Miami. After seven years of being teammates, Adebayo felt betrayed. Hardaway Sr. recently shared his thoughts on The Jim Rome Show.
"I didn't think Herro was always in with Bam. That's telling me, you're not a friend. That's telling me, you wasn't Heat, all the way Heat. You was always outside of Heat culture. And, for Bam to be your guy and you say that about him, that's not cool. ... Bam handled it in a way he thought was best for him."
Hardaway's comments on The Jim Rome Show come after Herro exchanged messages with a fan on Instagram. Apparently, the former Heat star made harsh comments regarding his former teammate. NBA insider Charania verified the entire situation via SiriusXM NBA Radio.
"Bam approached Tyler Herro about this. They had a back-and-forth that ended with them getting into it physically, where Bam Adebayo struck Tyler Herro. There were other players around, multiple teams that used this practice court. This was in a pretty public domain."
While the altercation left no visible injuries, the rift remains. When asked his opinion on the matter, he refused to engage with Heat writer Ira Winderman.
“My only comment is no comment.”
Herro doesn't have to deal with Adebayo anymore, as the former has been traded to the Milwaukee Bucks, which brought Giannis Antetokounmpo and Bobby Portis Jr. to the Heat. Herro now joins Bucks forward Kyle Kuzma and center Myles Turner in Milwaukee, leaving the Heat drama behind.
And as per reports, both players seem to have gotten over the issue.
NBA Insider claims Bam Adebayo and Tyler Herro want to move on
While the Adebayo-Herro controversy has taken the league by surprise, it seems like things have cooled down on both fronts. Neither player wants to further this narrative, as the regular season inches closer.
While under typical circumstances, one party could've easily taken legal action, it seems that Adebayo and Herro are not willing to go through that trouble. According to NBA insider Charania, the former Heat duo are willing to move on from the altercation.
"There is belief to be surveillance footage to be reviewed, but at this point no investigation from the NBA. Tyler Herro not pursuing any legal action as of right now, of course. Tyler Herro and Bam Adebayo have clearly had some sort of falling out that potentially began last season ... My understanding is both Tyler Herro and Bam Adebayo want to move on from this situation."
Herro is now set to suit up for the Milwaukee Bucks after getting traded as part of the Heat's package for Antetokounmpo. Heat fans will be intrigued to see what Adebayo can accomplish with his new All-Star partner.
