Ex-NBA Star Reveals Why Anthony Davis Joining the Warriors Is the Best Thing for LeBron James

It seems that the Golden State Warriors might have an interesting summer. Earlier this offseason, the Warriors expressed their interest in pursuing LeBron James. Stephen Curry will reportedly meet up with James in hopes of convincing him to join the Warriors.
On top of James' potential arrival in the Bay Area, there are rumors that Anthony Davis could also tag along. Former NBA star heard of the rumors and shared his thoughts on the potential reunion of Davis and James in Golden State.
"Because (the Warriors) are trying to push Bron (to join them)," Jeff Teague said in his podcast, 'Club 520'. "I’ll be so hyped. The NBA do that. LeBron, Anthony Davis, Steph Curry, and Draymond. ... LeBron got to go with AD, that’s the only way he’s going to stay healthy."
Rumors suggest that the Warriors will attempt to strike a deal with the Washington Wizards during the 2026 NBA Draft. The intention is to send Jimmy Butler, the 11th pick in the upcoming draft, and a 2030 first-round pick for Davis.
While the Warriors could be taking a huge risk by wasting their assets on an injury-prone player, there's no denying that Davis would finally solve the team's small-ball lineup issue.
However, everything remains to be seen. There isn't any solid evidence yet pointing towards the potential trade. Right now, the Warriors' top priority is to hopefully convince James to join their team.
Could LeBron James and Anthony Davis Run It Back in Golden State?
With rumors of LeBron James and Anthony Davis potentially joining the Golden State Warriors spreading, this might be the biggest superteam NBA fans have seen in a while. James and Davis are a proven and tested combo in the league, winning one championship together in 2020.
While superteams have slowly become a thing of the past, it's never a bad idea to bring together a bunch of mighty forces to dominate the league. James, despite turning 42 years old later this year, is still a force to be reckoned with.
During the 2026 NBA Playoffs, James was put to the test without the Los Angeles Lakers' new face of the franchise, Luka Doncic. Despite getting eliminated in the second round, James had an impressive showing for a man his age. The King averaged 23.2 points, 7.3 assists, 6.7 rebounds, and 1.4 steals while shooting 46% from the field.
Having that in mind, LeBron could still be a valuable asset to the Warriors if he were to join forces with Stephen Curry and Draymond Green. But the big question now is, what about Davis?
AD has become notorious for being injury-prone. While undoubtedly a versatile big man, what good do his all-around talents do if he isn't consistently available to help his team? To be quite frank, the only thing Davis needs to do is maintain his health. If he accomplishes that, the Warriors might become one of the scariest teams in the Western Conference despite their old age.
Former three-time NBA champion Danny Green recently told the story of how strong Davis truly was before all the injuries. He shared his thoughts on when he won a title next to AD during the infamous NBA Bubble.
"Healthy Anthony Davis, this is what got him (NBA) Top 75," Green said. "That was a Top 75 player in the history of the game because of what he's capable of, what he could do, and what he did. He had a great series throughout the whole (2020) playoffs. He was great. Hit game-winners for us. Changed the game, blocking shots, protecting the rim. ... The pick-and-roll, damn near unstoppable."
Given Green's praise of the healthy version of Davis, the Warriors could strike gold if he can avoid hurting himself for the majority of the season. If that happens, Curry, Green, and James could win their fifth ring, while Davis grabs his second ring.
